The annual Conference of Volunteer-Examiner Coordinators
was held in Gettysburg, PA., site of the first Conference in 1985. Representatives of the 14 VECs met during a day long
session after which they posed for this photo. The Officers are: Chair Larry Pollack (far right), Vice-Chair John B.
Johnston (far left), Secretary Michele Cimbala (second row, 9th from left), Ray Adams Treasurer (rear, 7th
from right), and Rol Anders (rear, 6th from left).

The VECs are Anchorage Amateur Radio Club, ARRL, CAVEC, Inc.; Golden Empire Amateur Radio Society; Greater L.A. The FCC's moderator for a lively brainstorming session was Dorothy Conway from the Office of Managing
Director. She went around the room calling upon each attendee to speak about what it is that he or she likes, or doesn't
like, about the present license processing system, and ideas for improvements. As each participant spoke, the comments
were projected on the screen and saved for future reference. The FCC is beginning a project to consolidate and modernize
its systems.
